Every Monday, Town Captain Gordon Greer talks exclusively to www.swindontownfc.co.uk, giving his views on the weekend's performance, and looking forward to the upcoming week at The County Ground.......

It was another solid performance from the boys on Saturday, and I thought we thoroughly deserved what was a great 2-0 win over a decent Carlisle United side.

I thought we looked good throughout the game and gave a really good performance all round with some excellent individual performances too.

They had come here and set up with a 4-5-1 formation so it was tough going and always difficult to break them down for the first 20 minutes or so, but the timing of the first goal was crucial and it was great to go in 1-0 up at half time because we knew they'd have to come out at us in the second half.

They put two up front and left a few more spaces for us after the break and we managed to exploit them and look pretty good for a lot of the second half - so much so that it could have been four or five by the end really.

We've played against a 4-5-1 a few times this year with teams coming here and just trying to sit in midfield, so we're pretty used to it now and we're always confident of making that breakthrough and getting teams to come at us more which happened on Saturday.

As I said once it got into the second half it could have been four or five, and it was a shame that big Vince Pericard couldn't score because it would be nice for him to get off the mark at Swindon and then I can see him scoring a lot of goals for us.

I thought he played really well when he came on, and he did really well to make the chance for himself, but unfortunately there was someone on the line to clear it so it's frustrating for him at the moment but he just needs the one goal to set him off.

It was great to see the likes of Craig Easton, Sean Morrison and Vince get on on Saturday, because it's a squad game and especially coming into the end of the season now we're going to need them.

You can't just put out the same 11 players every week and we need everybody within the squad to perform, and I thought Eastie especially had a good run out and played really well.

Stockport County are the visitors tomorrow night, and it wasn't really that long ago that we got a 1-0 win up there in pretty tough conditions.

It was really was a grind up there on a difficult pitch and I'd like to think that we'll be able to play our football a bit more at The County Ground tomorrow.

As I said that was a tough game and I expect tonight will be as well because, even though they're bottom by quite a way, their results have started to pick up since they brought in a few good players on loan from MK Dons especially.

They will be confident coming into tonight as well having got their first win in a long time away from home against Exeter on Saturday, so it will be hard for us because they are a solid team.

But I know that if we apply ourselves in the correct manner then we are a match for anyone, so hopefully we can do that tomorrow night.

From a personal point of view I'm hoping to bit fit for the match having gone over on my ankle on Saturday.

It was pretty sore I have to say, and looking up at the clock I saw there was about five minutes left and with us being 2-0 up it wasn't worth risking.

The swelling has gone down a lot and it's not feeling too bad at the moment so hopefully I'll be fine.

See you at the game,

Gordon Greer
