It's fair to say it's been a frustrating start to the season on a personal and a team level, but hopefully that can change this weekend.
My thigh injury is getting better day by day; I trained on Thursday without any setbacks so hopefully I'll ready for tomorrow's game.
To be honest it was a bit of a kick in the teeth to miss the first two games of the season, especially having worked so hard over the summer, but at the same time there was no point in being stubborn to the detriment of the team, so I had to sit it out.
It was doubly frustrating because we lost both games, and I felt like I wanted to be out there contributing - that's just human nature.
I had thought it was just general muscle soreness that you get in pre-season, but I just felt it getting tighter and tighter during that Forest game, and it got to a point where I had to rest it, but hopefully it's gone now I'm looking forward to Saturday.

It was hard to watch the lads in the first two games as I'm not the best watcher! To be honest I'm not really the most knowledgeable guy when it comes to looking at the game overall, but it was obvious that we were nowhere near our best, especially against Brighton.
With the game on Tuesday night I couldn't see Orient scoring at all, and then when they did score it was a bit of a sucker punch to us and the boys couldn't get back into the game which was a shame.
I think we just need to be more ruthless at both ends of the pitch and take it from there.
Obviously we would have much rather won both games, but It's also important to remember that we're only two games into the season, and a similar sort of thing happened last year, so once we get into our stride I'm sure we'll be fine.

So we're off to Hartlepool today, and it will be a tough against them as they had a good result against Sheffield United mid-week so they'll be full of confidence.
But it will probably be better to play against a team in that state of mind as they'll come at us rather sitting back which could work to our advantage.
We won there last year as well which will give us confidence, and the pitch is apparently very nice up there - as it should be at this stage of the season - which could also play into our hands.
And on a personal note I'm looking forward to starting my season too - if selected - it will be nice to get back to shouting at a few people as well!
Finally, since my last one of these we've seen a few new signings with Thomas Dossevi and the two boys from Celtic coming in.

As far as Thomas is concerned, he's obviously got pedigree and I'm sure he'll do well for us, and it's great to have Simon Ferry back, as he's a nice guy and a great player.
If we can get him, Dougie and Prutts working well together in midfield then we'll have a lot of options in the centre of midfield which will benefit us hugely.
As for Paul Caddis, he looked very good on Tuesday night and is an intelligent footballer which is nice as there's not too many of them about!
Obviously it's not been a great start to the season for us, but there's loads more in the tank so hopefully we can let some of that out this weekend.
See you there!

David Lucas
