Well what a strange day last Saturday was!

Leaving Devon on an August weekend is never a pleasure, and last Saturday proved just why.

It normally takes me two hours at the most to drive to the County Ground, but because of the traffic making its way from the South West….it took three and three quarter hours.

Now Victor Meldrew is someone I can happily, or is it miserably, compare myself with….but there are times when even he would have been shocked at my language.

After a hot, sweaty, and downright frustrating journey, I arrived looking forward to the Town's first win of the season.

Sadly it wasn't to be, and another two home points went begging. I know it's not the start we would have wanted, but results aren't too dissimilar to last season, and look what happened then.

Much has been said and written about the mistakes which are costing Swindon goals, but there's little you can do about it except work hard. Let's hope they'll stop soon.

International recognition has come the Town's way, and it's great that Swindon players are being seen as good enough to wear their country's jersey. It means the squad will be a little depleted for the trip to Carlisle, but obviously the club feels it can cope without a postponement.

It strikes me that some international journeys, will be shorter than a visit to Cumbria - I'm looking forward to the 6am start!

Before that though, its MK Dons.

They'll no doubt be cock-a-hoop after their Carling Cup win over Premier League Blackpool, which couldn't have come at a worse time that could it?

Last weekend they had a bit of a heavy defeat, but that'll be well and truly forgotten now. A victory is much needed by Swindon, just to get the season up and running.

There's not a lot of point dwelling on it if it doesn't happen…except we will all week. Still I've got a feeling this will be the weekend when things turn round.

At least it's not a long journey, although I think the traffic will still be heavy….look out for a hot, sweaty, swearing bloke, just outside stadium:MK.

Keep it loud, keep it proud, keep it SWINDON.

Till next week,

Vic
