The primary schools six a side final between Holy Rood and Grange Junior School took place at The County Ground on Monday afternoon.

Both schools had won through for the right to play on the hallowed turf with the winners going onto represent Swindon Town FC at the Football League Community Cup Southern League One finals.

The game kicked off at 4pm with throng of vocal support in the Kingswood Stand to cheer on both teams.

Holy Rood ran out 2-0 winners with goals either side of half-time from Nathan James and Sam Guy. It was a keenly-contested game with both sides a credit to their school with a high standard of play on show.

Swindon Town Football in the Community Manager, Jon Holloway, commented: "It was a tremendous opportunity for both schools to showcase their skills on the pitch and they certainly didn't disappoint.

"It was an entertaining game played in the right spirit and we would like to thank the players, managers and parents for their efforts.

"On behalf of Swindon Town Football Club we would like to wish Holy Rood every success in the next stage of the competition, whilst offering our commiserations to Grange Juniors."
