Obviously this week has revolved largely around the fantastic win on Tuesday against Leeds United.

We spent much of MONDAY preparing for the game at The Liddington. The boys looked in good spirits, especially after the win over Gillingham on the Saturday and we got some good work done.

It's also nice to have finally got over the cold snap which really didn't help our preparations for quite a few games in the end, but fortunately we're able to get back to a normal routine now.

There was no training on TUESDAY ahead of the Leeds match, which turned out to be very pleasing indeed.

Danny and I were delighted with the win and the players, and in the end I don't think 3-0 flattered us by any stretch of the imagination.

I mentioned in the week that there was a little bit extra in the match for David Lucas and Dougie, so I was particularly pleased for them as they both played exceptionally well.

As far as the attendance was concerned, it was great to see so many fans turnout to support the side, and hopefully a performance like that will convince people to come back, because we've played some great stuff at home so far this year.

WEDNESDAY was a well deserved day off for the players, but some of them who hadn't been involved with the Leeds match got a run out in the reserve game against Salisbury in the evening.

We won the match comfortably and I was particularly pleased with the attitude of the older players who were out there, and they blended well with the youngsters that were playing.

Billy Bodin got a couple and played pretty well. He's got a good footballing brain, and a lot of potential so it was pleasing to see him do so well.

Paul Bodin and Jeremy Newton do well with the youth boys here, and we can see how well the likes of Will Evans, Elliot Knight and Bill are doing.

We were working on a few structural things in training on THURSDAY ahead of the match with Southend on Saturday.

Obviously the players are full of confidence at the moment so it was a productive session.

It will be a light session on FRIDAY before we travel to Southend for an overnight stop ahead of Saturday's match.

Even though it was an excellent performance against Leeds, we need to err on the side of caution and keep feet on the ground.

There are the same amount of points available against Southend tomorrow, and we've got to focus on that now.

It will be a tough test because they are scrapping down towards to the bottom of the table, but I'm confident that if we keep plugging away as we have been doing, we can do ok.

See you there,

Peter Shirtliff
