Every Friday, Town Assistant Peter Shirtliff keeps you up to date with the week's goings on at The County Ground.
This week, he reflects on six points out of six, and preparation for a trip to East London this weekend.......
We've had another good week here what with the wins over Carlisle on Saturday and Stockport on Tuesday, and the spirit in the camp has obviously been pretty good as a result.
On MONDAY it was a matter of taking stock after a tough game at the weekend. It was a very good performance against Carlisle, and most pleasing for me was the fact that we kept a clean sheet.
After putting the lads through their paces early on in the session, we then moved on to preparation for the match against Stockport on TUESDAY.
It was always going to be a tricky game, but we came through it very, very well indeed and were convincing winners in the end. It was a great score line as well which I thought we deserved.
We played some really good football at times without really having that end product, but we did put together some brilliant passing movements and then as the game wore on and opened up a little bit we could have had a few more goals.

Unfortunately we picked up a couple of injuries but having looked over them they are not as bad as they might have been all in all it was a good night for us.
Danny Ward having to come off after about half an hour was a bit unsettling but it gave Matt Ritchie as chance to show what he could do and I think he showed he could be quite a help for us during the rest of the season.
We've got a few niggly injuries around the place at the moment, what with Danny, Kevin Amankwaah and Gordon Greer having struggled over the last week, and it's showing us that we need to add a few more to the squad to help us out in the latter stages of the season.
That's what we were working on with the players off on WEDNESDAY, and plenty of phone calls went back and forth between various parties. In truth it was a bit frustrating that nothing resulted from that work but we'll keep persevering with it and hopefully we should have something done in the not too distant future.

Patience really is the order of the day with these things because the reality is that everybody is looking for the same sort of player, so you just have to hope for the best.
We had the players back in for training on THURSDAY, and it was encouraging to see that they'd come through the game against Stockport pretty well.
They were nice and sharp after a good warm up, and we did some structural things for the weekend, but the training ground is still quite heavy so we're limited in what we can do.
There were also a couple of fans along at training who won a competition to come to a session with us, and I think they quite enjoyed themselves!
It was good to show them round and let them get quite close to the way things work, and having done a few things like that before it is always nice to see fans having such a good time around the players.

We'll do a little bit more fine tuning on FRIDAY ready for the game at Leyton Orient, and hopefully we can take these two days' preparation into the match on Saturday and get another win.
We're setting off around lunch time, and hopefully the journey won't be too strenuous with traffic so we can get to the hotel and relax ready for the game tomorrow.
The game on Saturday is one of those that people always think will be easy but it just never is.
Orient have had some reasonable results over the last 10 or so games, and they've proved how good a side they are, so it will be a difficult game and we know that.
They are becoming a force to be reckoned with, particularly at their place and the boys have taken that on board so we're well prepared for the game and hopefully can get another win.
See you there,

Peter Shirtliff
