Danny Wilson offered his views to the media shortly after watching Town's 4-2 win over Oldham Athletic at The County Ground.
The manager was pleased to have seen his side return to winning ways courtesy of an effective, if uninspiring performance against Oldham Athletic at The County Ground.
He said: "It was important to get a result after Saturday and we did that.
"I don't think we were at our best tonight, especially in the first half and we could have made it a lot more emphatic, but we may not have deserved it.
"We were second best in lots of areas of the first half, giving the ball away cheaply, and we weren't at the races.
"Oldham are no mugs, but you've got to overcome them and we did that tonight which I'm pleased with."

Town broke the deadlock with a screamer from Billy Paynter, and Wilson admits the goal was evidence of the 19-goal striker's ever growing confidence.
He said: "It was a great striker's goal, but was against the run of play it's fair to say.
"When somebody's on fire like Billy is they'll take those shots on.
"They have a quite high backline, and with all due respect not a lot of pace, so if you get your passes angled right then you've got a chance and we took them."
Despite his relief at claiming the three points after Saturday's last minute disappointment against Charlton, the manager remained concerned at his side's lack of concentration late in the game, having watch them concede two goals close to the final whistle.

He said: "The first one was a bit like Saturday's goal, and gets to the back post to a player we've not picked up.
"With the last one, Phil's made a good shout and not made it.
"It was two poor goals, but they gave us two poor goals as well."
Wilson took the opportunity to rest some of his key players, and introduced Vincent Pericard, Craig Easton and Mark Marshall in an effort to improve their match fitness before Saturday's crucial clash at Huddersfield Town.
"We got ourselves in a healthy position, and they needed a bit of pitch time, so it was good we got them that," he said.

"They're valuable members of the squad. Craig's been chomping at the bit to play, and Vince and Marshy need games.
"I wouldn't put them on if I didn't think they were good enough, so I was glad to be able to give them some time out there."
And as far as the trip to The Galpharm Stadium is concerned, the manager was confident that a crucial three points against The Latics will serve his players well in what could be a hugely significant match come the end of the season.
"We seem to respond to the big games better, but at the same time we have to beat the teams below us, which we haven't always done.
"But we're picking up those wins now which is a good habit."
