Phil Smith admits his involvement in Town's two opening games of the season was unexpected, but he is striving to make the most of his opportunity in the first team.
The 30-year-old replaced the injured David Lucas for Saturday's League 1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, and also started Tuesday night's home clash Leyton Orient, and he is enjoying his time in the limelight.
"I only found out on Friday (that Lucas was unfit to face Brighton on Saturday), so I didn't have too much time to think about it which is probably for the best," he said.
"But it's gone ok so far and I've got to keep trying to impress as much as I can."

And with Lucas still striving to be fit for this Saturday's trip to Hartlepool United, Smith is content to keep performing well in his absence.
"Obviously it's good for me to be playing straight away this season, and I've just got to make the most of the time that Dave is out," he said.
"I think I've done pretty well so far so I've just got to hope it carries on for as long as possible."
