Callum Kennedy admits he is hugely relieved to be back involved in the first team fold at The County Ground.
The 20-year-old left-back had been out of action for around eight months prior to his substitute appearance against Brentford, and is delighted to just be in contention again.
"It (the injury lay-off) was horrible for me, especially at such a young age because you just want to be playing football," he said.
"Even not being able to train day in, day out was awful and it just crept up on me really which wasn't a good feeling but I feel a lot stronger now and I'm getting back.
"I went to Lilleshall over the summer and they gave me lots of exercises to be doing do strengthen up the muscles around my pelvis and I stayed on top of that and feel a lot better for it now.
Despite having to settle for a place on the bench at MK Dons, the youngster insists he is content to wait for his chance.
"Competition for places is obviously a very good thing to have because you're always working hard whether you're in the side or not," he said.
"It's a great feeling to be back as it has been a long time coming, so I'm happy to just be involved at the moment."
And as far as Town's indifferent start to the campaign is concerned, Kennedy believes it is a mere matter of time before the new-look squad begin to gel and pick up points.
"We've got some new players in and everyone's still settling in, but I don't think we're far away," he said.
"There are still a few things we need to be working on, but they will come together I'm sure.
"It's just about getting used to each other and hopefully we can go from there."
