Danny Wilson wants to see a carbon copy of his side's performance from their Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Southampton when they face Carlisle United on Saturday afternoon.
The manager was delighted with his players' attitude and application in the 3-0 triumph at St. Mary's, but insists anything short of the same performance will see his side come back down to earth with a bump.
He said: "You can never take anything for granted, but we hope that one thing we can take for granted is the work ethic we saw on Tuesday night.
"All the ingredients were there on Tuesday for a good season, so we're hoping to see them on Saturday.
"But if they're not apparent within the 90 minutes, then we will have problems - that is for sure."
And despite having lost captain Ian Harte to Reading on transfer deadline day, Wilson believes his opposite number Greg Abbott, has brought in more than sufficient replacements.
"They'll miss Ian because he's a quality player, but they've brought in Lubomir Michalik from Leeds who is a totally different animal," he said.
"He's brought in Ben Marshall as well who's a very good player too, so they'll both add to their squad.
"So if their squad's not full of confidence already from being top of the league, then bringing in those players certainly will do it."
