Three goals in three frantic second half minutes saw Swindon Town come away with a point after an excellent League One clash at The Banks's Stadium.

Edrissa Sonko had given the home side a first half lead before Andy Nicholas equalised for Swindon on 65 minutes. Craig Easton fired Town into the lead on 67 minutes with Sonko drawing level with his second of the game just sixty seconds later.

Swindon Town made one change to their starting line-up at Walsall with Andy Nicholas coming into the line-up to replace Captain Hasney Aljofree, who missed the game serving a one-match suspension.

There was a positional switch at the back with Jamie Vincent moving inside to centre-back with Nicholas starting at left-back.

The healthy following from Wiltshire in the away end will have been boosted by the sight of Reading striker Simon Cox amongst the crowd at The Banks's Stadium.

The home side began the game without regular striking partnership Tommy Mooney (hamstring) and Michael Ricketts (achilles) although they did hand a full home debut to new loan signing Lee Holmes, formerly of Swindon.

Maurice Malpas took his seat in the main stand shortly before kick-off, ready for another look at his future charges.

It was the home side who set off on the attack soon after kick-off and having been played through on the right, Edrissa Sonko could only skew his effort wide. Alex Nicholls then tried a long-range effort on five minutes with Brezovan not troubled.

Town's first real opening came with 12 minutes on the clock. A long clearance from Brezovan was not cleared by the home defence with McGovern able to win the ball back with ease. The ball fell to Paynter who threaded a clever ball through to Sturrock who having taken the ball on, saw his shot well saved by Ince from just inside the box.

The home side could have opened the scoring on 19 minutes with a fine ball across the face of goal finding Sonko in space. The winger set himself but was denied by a superb block from Nicholas.

It was the Saddlers who opened the scoring on 20 minutes. A cross from the left by Troy Deeney was met by Mark Bradley, with the Welshman seeing his effort parried by Brezovan from close range with Sonko on hand to smash the ball into the net from six-yards.

Swindon could have drawn level on 33 minutes after a spell of positive play. A superb ball from McGovern beat the offside trap with Lee Peacock ghosting through the home defence. Peacock rounded Ince, but from the angle saw his shot strike the outside of the right hand post.

Town continued to press for another opening before the half-time whistle but were frustrated by the home defence. Lee Holmes saw a lot of possession late in the half and was often a danger.

Swindon emerged unchanged from the interval and made a solid start to the second period with J-P McGovern forcing the first corner of the second half on 49 minutes. The resulting corner was played short to Zaaboub who saw his fizzing effort from the edge of the box sting the hands of Ince. Two further corners were forced before the home side could clear their lines.

Jerel Ifil went in the book on 53 minutes after a challenge from behind on the edge of the box. His foul presented debutante Holmes with a chance to make his mark, although Brezovan was equal to the task saving well down to his left.

Lee Holmes' mazy run on the hour saw the Derby County winger produce an excellent cross for Nicholls who could only head narrowly over when well-placed.

Town won their sixth corner of the game on 65 minutes and the pressure certainly paid off. Sofiene Zaaboub's cross into the box was not cleared and Andy Nicholas was on hand to fire home his first goal of the season from close range.

Just two minutes later Town were ahead. A fine cross from the left by Sturrock found Craig Easton unmarked inside the box and he glanced his header into the far corner of the net to make it 2-1 Swindon.

However they say you a team is most vulnerable after scoring and it proved to be the case here at The Banks's Stadium. A pinpoint cross on 69 minutes from Mark Bradley saw Edrissa Sonko head home from close range.

Richard Money made his first change of the game with twenty minutes remaining with Ishmel Demontagnac replacing Holmes wide on the left.

Christian Roberts was introduced into the action on 73 minutes in place of Blair Sturrock, who had worked hard in the front line alongside Paynter.

Swindon forced yet another corner with eleven minutes remaining with Paynter narrowly missing out on Zaaboub's corner from in front of the 781 Robins fans behind the goal.

Substitute Ishmel Demontagnac was denied from 12 yards by an excellent stop from Brezovan on 85 minutes, before Byrne and Williams made another change, with Mohamed replacing McGovern on the right.

The three minutes of added time passed with neither side able to settle the affair, with the game ending at 2-2 after a pulsating encounter. Town now go into Tuesday's FA Cup Third Round replay at Barnet unbeaten in six games.

With Maurice Malpas now set to take over the managerial hotseat and with a press conference planned for Tuesday to confirm the club's new owners, the future at The County Ground is bright indeed.
