Swindon Town striker was delighted to add to his tally after netting a brace against The Latics on Saturday afternoon.

Cox's double strike secured a valuable win to lift The Robins into fifteenth place in League One, ahead of next Friday's trip to Doncaster Rovers.

The striker insists Town must take every confidence from the result.

"When you are not playing well you are often trying too hard, but today things went our well and everyone is all smiles.

"Confidence is now high and since I have come back to the club, it hasn't gone that easy. Maybe it was a lack of confidence on my part.

"I set high standards and I am the first one to hold my hand up after a game if I haven't performed, but we want to keep those high now.

"It was great to get two goals and the fans were fantastic too. We can now take confidence into the next few games.

"If we can win the next three or four games then our finish to the season will look a lot better than it could have been."

Simon Cox speaks to the media post-match

Cox remains optimistic of adding to his tally, even after the final whistle. The striker believes a goal attributed to Lee Peacock at Oldham Athletic belongs to the Town number 31.

"I have got a few people to look at it and hopefully that one will come my way!

"I told Peacs about a month back and he said no chance, but we will see! I have sent the video off to the dubious goals panel and we shall see what happens."
