Swindon Town have today announced that Chris Blackburn has left the club by mutual consent.

The defender joined The Robins in the summer of 2007 on a free transfer from Morecambe, but failed to hold down a regular slot in the Town starting line-up.

Blackburn made a total of seven appearances for Swindon, with his last appearance in the red and white coming against AFC Bournemouth in December.

He ended the 2007/08 season with a 13-game loan spell at Blue Square Premier side Weymouth and enjoyed a successful spell with The Terra's, where he played alongside another Swindon player, Scott Doe.

'Blackie' follows Kaid Mohamed, Andy Nicholas and Sofiene Zaaboub through the exit door with Michael Pook also searching for a new club although he has the option of another year's stay at STFC.
