The generosity of Town striker Simon Cox has enabled FSH Muscular Dystrophy suffered Ray Brown to purchase a new mobility scooter.

The cost of the scooter was £4,120.00 and Mr. Brown received a large donation of £2,000 from the Act Foundation, which was due to expire on 1st June 2008. Further donations were made from the Rotary Club (£200) and the Muscular Dystrophy Charity (£1,250) and the Joseph Patrick Trust.

This left a shortfall of £670 and with the Act Foundation grant due to expire - there was an urgent need to raise the rest of the money.

'Coxy' stepped in to make up the shortfall, leaving Ray able to purchase the mobility scooter from Mr. Ian Aspinall of Sun Mobility, Lower Earley.

"I would like to thank all the people and charities involved. I have been truly overwhelmed their generosity," enthused Ray.

"None of this would have been possible without the help of a very special lady, my Occupational Therapist, who is part of the 'older people & long term condition team' for Bracknell Forest Social Services."

Ray added: "Simon played a significant part and I am thankful to him for stepping in at the eleventh hour to make this happen."
