French midfielder Lilian Nalis is set to link up with the Town squad for training on Wednesday as he bids to earn a contract at The County Ground for the 2008/09 season.

With Town boss Maurice Malpas on the look out for several new signings ahead of the new campaign, Nalis has been handed his chance to impress and could make his first appearance at Chippenham Town on Saturday afternoon.

36-year old Nalis is without a club after being released by Championship side Plymouth Argyle at the end of last term, although has plenty of experience in the English game with spells at Leicester City, Sheffield United and The Pilgrims.

A French midfielder, Nalis began his career in his home country with the likes of Le Havre, Caen, Guingamp and Bastia. After three seasons with the Bastia, Nalis moved to Italian side Chievo before a move to England.

He joined Leicester City in 2003 and spent two years with The Foxes - one of which in the Premier League, before a switch to Sheffield United. A loan spell at Coventry City followed and after just six appearances at Bramall Lane - he joined Plymouth.

In total Nalis made over 100 league appearances for The Pilgrims and has now been handed the chance to continue his stay in England with a trial spell at Swindon. He is expected to feature against both Chippenham Town and Cardiff City.

Elsewhere, winger Mark Marshall will return to Eastleigh to join the Club's own pre-season tour of Devon, although a return to Swindon has not been ruled out.
