MALPAS WELCOMES NALIS ARRIVAL

Posted on: Thu 31 Jul 2008

Swindon Town boss Maurice Malpas was delighted to have secured the signature of midfielder Lilian Nalis after the midfielder put pen to paper on a one-year deal.

Nalis impressed during the pre-season games against Chippenham Town and Cardiff City and is now a fully-fledged member of the Robins squad.

"Lilian has signed and we are delighted to have him on board with us," enthused the boss.

"He is a quality player and he will add a lot to our performance. His experience is important and the fans got a glimpse of him the other night against Cardiff.

"His match fitness will improve and there is more to come there. He hasn't really had much of a pre-season, but his general fitness isn't too bad. He will play against Plymouth on Monday night and we will work from there.

"I had a long chat with him in the car to Salisbury and that gave us the opportunity to do a lot of talking. He can really bring a lot to our squad and he can bring the younger players on too."

A move for Yinka Casal is also on the cards with the club currently in negotiations with Cambuur over a permanent move for the defender.

"We are trying to move the Yinka Casal deal forward as well and I spoke to another player yesterday so we have quite a few things on the go.

"The deal has been agreed with the player and we are speaking to the club at the moment to see what they are looking for. In an ideal world he would be available for us against Plymouth on Monday night."

The boss also commented on a move for another unnamed target, which could potentially make it three new faces at The County Ground within the space of a week.

"I went to meet with the player and offered him terms. There is a bit of a gap between what he is on at the Championship club he is at, but he is keen to come and be a Swindon player.

"The move has to be right for him and his family though so he has gone back to his club to see if something can be sorted out.

Malpas added: "Hopefully we will hear something within a day or two."
