MANAGER ON SADDLERS CALL OFF
Swindon Town boss Maurice Malpas admitted the match referee had a 'tough decision' to make on Tuesday night.
Malpas arrived at The Bank's Stadium along with the rest of his squad only to be informed that a pitch inspection had been planned.
Following an extended look at the playing surface, the game was called off at around 6.45pm in the interest if player safety.
Speaking from the stadium, Maurice Malpas offered his views on the decision which left around 450 Swindon fans forced to make an immediate return to Wiltshire.
"Supposedly it was to supposed to rain, but that didn't happen and the referee has called it off due to the safety of the players," said the boss.
"The Referee had a hard decision to make. If he had left it and we had started the game, only for it to then be stopped then he would have been criticised.
"I am sure some people will be frustrated but that's the way it goes."
He added: "All we can do is get back down the road and start preparing for Scunthorpe in the morning."
