SMITH PLEASED TO PERFORM

Posted on: Sat 01 Nov 2008

Goalkeeper Phil Smith admits a positive attitude has helped the Town squad to success after another encouraging away day display at Scunthorpe United.

Smith was handed his chance to impress after an ankle injury to goalkeeper Peter Brezovan meant a recall for the former Millwall keeper.

"I knew I was playing on Tuesday and thankfully things went well. It was important to put in a decent performance," he said.

"Sometimes when you lose that many goals you are under the cosh, but I am happy with the saves I made.

"The first one was a fantastic strike and they got lucky for the second one. A point is a tremendous result, coming to a top of the table side.

"I have done myself no harm and I wanted to prove that I can perform and hopefully I have done that."
