Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson was celebrating today after being named Coca-Cola League 1 Manager of the Month for December.
Pearson's side enjoyed a fantastic end to the year, with four wins and a draw from their five league games. They began the month with a win against Southend United before coming from behind to net all three points at Carlisle United. The Foxes continued their unbeaten run with a comprehensive victory over Peterborough United before a late equaliser from Leeds United prevented them sealing a Boxing Day victory at Elland Road. A further three points against Hereford United rounded off a terrific month for the Foxes which leaves them sitting top of Coca-Cola League 1 as they head into the New Year.
Also short-listed for the December award were Paul Lambert of Colchester United, Roberto Di Matteo of Milton Keynes Dons and Peterborough United's Darren Ferguson.
Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "The fact that this is Nigel Pearson's second Manager of the Month award of the season, having also picking up the accolade back in August, underlines just how well Leicester have done in the first half of the campaign. When Nigel became Foxes manager in the summer there was a lot of pressure on him to ensure the club bounced straight back to the Championship and their results in December mean they are firmly on course to achieve this."
Steve Coppell of Reading won the award in Championship and Dagenham and Redbridge's John Still was given the League 2 accolade.
The decision to present the Coca-Cola League 1 Manager of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Awards panel headed by Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara, former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Richard Bevan and Olaf Dixon of the League Managers Association and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
