WILSON'S TRANSFER VIEWS

Posted on: Thu 04 Jun 2009

Swindon Town boss Danny Wilson offered his views to the media following the addition of Leeds goalkeeper David Lucas on Tuesday afternoon.

Wilson secured the services of his second summer signing following the recruitment of former Town loanee Gordon Greer in May. Greer made a big impact during his temporary spell with The Robins last term and Wilson believes his two summer recruits will play a big part next season.

You added David Lucas to the squad on Tuesday, tell us more about him…

You will see that he has very good experience at a high level and I am sure the fans will see that. I have seen him on a number of occasions and he is a good speaker and a decent organiser.

He will integrate well in the dressing room and is the type of character we need in there. His experience will be a major plus for us.

We needed someone in there who had been there, seen it and done it.

And a two-year contract shows you have faith in him too…

Exactly right. It is great from the Chairman and the Board to give that type of backing. That shows that we mean business this year and we want to get some momentum here at Swindon.

Gordon Greer has already signed, and we are hoping to add two or three more signings over the coming weeks.

How much of a platform can you provide at Swindon next season?

From my point of view there is no better platform. David Lucas saw the ambition of the club and that cements why he has come down here.

He wants to be part of a club that's moving forward and next season should be an exciting one for players and fans alike.
