Club Physiotherapist Dick Mackey believes goalkeeper David Lucas could be in with a chance of a first team return this weekend, pending a positive outcome on his knee scan.

The stopper was injured in the warm-up before Saturday's home game with Colchester United and was replaced in the starting eleven by Phil Smith, who made his 80th start for the club.

Lucas was at the training ground on Monday morning with Mackey providing an update on the situation.

"David injured himself whilst diving for a ball during the warm-up and was assisted off the field with medial ligament pain," said Mackey.

"The problem, pending the scan, seems to have settled down very well over the weekend and after a walk this morning at the training ground - we will be going for a bike ride and swim this afternoon.

"David will have his scan results on Tuesday and which if positive, would provide a recovery - possibly for the weekend's game."
