1.30pm - Paul Sturrock arrives at The County Ground accompanied by former Argyle player Paul Mariner, who is set to take up a position at Home Park. Former Town defensive coach John Blackley also takes his seat in the Director's Box.

Half Time Score: Swindon Town Res 2 Plymouth Argyle Res 1

Town will be disappointed to have conceded late on in a half they largely dominated. An early wonderstrike from Michael Timlin and a typical poacher's finish from the increasingly prolific Charlie Austin gave Town an opportunity to open the floodgates, but they allowed the visitors back into the game, and the impressive Joe Mason made no mistake when the Town defence failed to deal with a long ball.

Alan O'Brien came off after half an hour having created the first goal, and fellow long-term absentees Lee Peacock and Hasney Aljofree will be pleased to have come through the first half unscathed. David Byrne may choose to have a look at some of the club's younger talent in the second half, with teenagers Mark Hartmann, Seb Broomfield and Will Evans all on the bench.

3.02pm - Will Evans replaces Hasney Aljofree at the heart of the Town defence, but Town are otherwised unchanged ahead of the second half at a sodden County Ground.

3.06pm - Liam Head races through one on one with Phil Smith, goes down under the keeper's challenge, but the referee gives a goal kick.

Phil Smith

3.09pm - Sean Morrison loops a header over the bar from a Micheal Timlin corner.

3.11pm - Plymouth keeper Kyle Letheren is down sharply to save a powerful shot from Lee Peacock from just inside the area.

3.15pm - GOAL! Frontman Charlie Austin bags his second of the game after chesting down a Billy Bodin cross and striking low into the corner past Letheren.

3.23pm - Excellent work from Billy Bodin on the left wing who crosses to Austin, but Lee Peacock fires over from Austin's knock-down.

3.24pm - Former Plymouth scholar Seb Broomfield replaces Lee Peacock.

Lee Peacock

3.25pm - Pinball in the Plymouth area and Will Evans eventually gets a shot away, but it rolls just wide.

3.26pm - Sharp turn and shot from the hat-trick chasing Austin but the effort is well saved.

3.27pm - Phil Smith saves a shot from Joe Mason, the ball trickles towards the Town goal, but Sean Morrison slides and clears against he's own post and the ball bounces clear.

3.30pm - Callum Kennedy crosses and Billy Bodin strikes just over the bar from 8 yards after a Craig Easton knock down. Town starting to dominate possession as they did in the first half hour.

3.37pm - Powerful run from George Donnerly after pouncing on a mistake from Sean Morrison but Phil Smith smothers the shot.

3.39pm - Curling free-kick from Sean Kinsella flies just over the top of the Town crossbar.

Craig Easton

3.50pm - The game begins to peter out as both sides start to look fatigued.

3.53pm - A slip from Sean Morrison lets Joe Mason through one on one with Phil Smith and the frontman makes no mistake, bagging his second of the game.

Final Score: Swindon Town Res 3 Plymouth Argyle Res 2

Town re-asserted their dominance as the second half wore on, and could have added to Charlie Austin's second of the game. Despite looking the better side for most of the match, they were shakey at the back on occasion, and sloppy mistakes resulted in both Argyle's goals.

However, there were many positives to take from the performance, and David Byrne will be particularly pleased with the performance of Austin, who looked a threat up front for large periods of a game which suffered as a result of a torrential downpour early in the first half.
