MATCH PREVIEW: TOWN VS NORWICH

Posted on: Tue 10 Nov 2009

Date: Tuesday 10th November
Competition: Johnstone's Paint Trophy, Area Quarter-Finals
Venue: The County Ground
Kick-Off: 7.30pm

The Lowdown

Norwich have clearly benefitted from the appointment of Paul Lambert earlier in the season. After the campaign began with a 7-1 trouncing by neighbours Colchester, Lambert soon defected from The U's to take up the role with The Canaries. After defeats on the road at MK Dons and Leeds United, Norwich returned to winning ways away from home with a 3-1 victory at Stockport County last weekend. Goals from Grant Holt (2) and Wes Hoolahan helped secure the three points.

Town boss Danny Wilson knows all about how important the Johnstone's Paint Trophy can be. Wilson won the competition whilst in charge of Bristol City in 2003 with Lee Peacock and former Town players Aaron Brown and Christian Roberts also part of the matchday squad.

Other Johnstone's Paint Trophy ties the Area Quarter-Final South stage will see Leyton Orient take on Hereford United, MK Dons host Northampton Town and Southampton take on Charlton Athletic at St. Mary's Stadium. Here's hoping Swindon's name appears in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Area Semi-Final draw.

Ticket Information

Town are expecting a crowd of around 5,000 for the tie with the visitors expected to bring between 600-800 travelling supporters

Tickets, priced at just £10 for an adult, are available on the night with only The Arkell's Stand and Don Rogers Stand open.

Team News - Swindon Town

Jonathan Douglas is available again after a four-game suspension and he will be looking forward to a return to the first team stage.

Charlie Austin and Alex Revell are also available again after missing Saturday's FA Cup win over Woking, as is Lecsinel Jean-Francois who returns after serving a one-game suspension.

Charlie Austin

Swindon Town Manager, Danny Wilson:

"The Johnstone's Paint Trophy is a competition we take seriously and it will be our strongest side that takes the field tonight. Norwich will want to get through - as we do - but hopefully our fans will turn out in force and back us through."

Team News - Norwich City

Top scorer Grant Holt is suspended after collecting his fifth yellow card of the campaign in Saturday's FA Cup win. Cody McDonald is expected to replace him whilst Owain Tudur-Jones could also come into contention in the middle.

Norwich Manager, Paul Lambert:

"I always say it, if you're in you might as well go and try and win it. I have great belief in whatever team I put out, that they will give me everything they've got.

"I think when you change things you put different personnel in, it gives everyone a chance to show. But I don't really need it proven any more as to what people can do, I've been here long enough to see what people can do and what they can't do."
