Phil Smith signs new Town contract

Swindon Town goalkeeper Phil Smith has signed a two-year extension to his existing contract.

The new deal will see the 30-year-old remain at the club until the end of season 2011/2012.

Speaking shortly after signing the deal, Smith said: "I had to think about it for while because obviously I haven't played a lot, but I won't have a better chance of playing in The Championship than I will here.

"The club has progressed massively in the last couple of years and I want to be a part of it.

"Swindon have shown their faith in me, and they've made me feel wanted which was a big thing and made it easy for me in the end."
