A recurrent hamstring strain has seen Vincent Pericard endure a stuttering start to his Town career, but manager Danny Wilson is hopeful a specialist's opinion will help get to the bottom of his fitness issue.

Pericard is currently under observation at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, and Wilson is hopeful that the striker's time there will enable him to recover from what is a minor yet persistent injury.

"We felt it was the best place for him to go at this moment in time, as he'll be able to get some different opinions as to the extent of it," he said.

"It's not that serious to be honest, but we're hoping to get to the bottom of it once and for all."

Wilson added that, while he is frustrated with the truncated start Pericard has been forced to make to his career, he remains confident that the injury will be overcome, and Town fans will soon be seeing the former Juventus man at his best.

He said: "I'm not an expert on it, but what I'm told is that a few fibres in the hamstring keep going, so whatever problem that is, is restricting him.

"He's not 100%, but we're trying to get this little niggle into some sort of context so that we can treat it properly and then we can see what Vince is really all about."
