2.10pm - The teams are in. Town are unchanged from the side that drew 1-1 with Exeter City on Monday evening. Former Town left-back Jamie Vincent starts for the visitors, while club legend Sam Parkin has to settle for a place on the bench at his former club.
2.44 - It's a glorious spring day at the County Ground as the pre-match entertainment steps up a gear. The Swindon Town "Rockettes" strut their stuff in the centre circle as Rockin' Robin runs up and down the touchline searching for high fives from the home supporters. He must be sweltering under all those feathers.....
2.55 - Impressive sight as soldiers of Her Majesty's armed forces make their way out onto the pitch in uniform to the applause of an upstanding crowd. They'll form a guard of honour for the players as they make their way onto the pitch in a few moments time.
3.03 - We're underway at SN1. The Town kick off on a pitch bathed in sunshine attacking the Town End in the first 45.
3.08 - Lively opening from the home side. A period of passing build-up in the midfield almost carves out a chance for Danny Ward but the visitors manage to scramble the ball clear.
3.18 - Well take that opening statement back - Walsall earn themselves a couple of corners from some shaky Town defending and David Lucas does brilliantly to turn Clayton McDonald's header over the top. Definite hint of nervousness to Danny Wilson's men. At the other end Charlie Austin misses a fantastic opportunity: unmarked and 12 yards out he can't push it past the onrushing goalkeeper.
3.20 - Superb chance for Town to take the lead and if it had been anyone else other than Stephen Darby! Some lovely pass and move stuff from the Town creates an opportunity for the Liverpool man to go through on goal. Unfortunately his touch lets him down and he can't quite reign the ball in allowing the goalkeeper to claim it. Really slick build-up though.
3.26 - Shades of Colchester and Exeter..? Danny Ward's shot is saved by Rene Gilmartin and as the Walsall 'keeper pushes the ball out to the lurking Town strikers, a last-gasp challenge gets the ball clear. Moments later Austin can't quite connect with a left-footed effort and it trickles wide.
3.30 - Say what you like about everyone else in this Town team but JP McGovern has been sensational this season. His pass from just inside the Walsall half is hit long and cross-field towards Paynter who has peeled off his man. As if on a length of string, the ball drops over the full-back's head inviting Paynter to hit the ball Van-Basten-esque on the volley. Unfortunately he can't add to his 25 goal tally for the season as his timing is slightly out and the ball sails harmlessly across goal and wide.
3.38 - The County Ground is rocking to the news that Leeds are 3-0 down at Gillingham. Danny Wilson has called for the supporters to really get behind the team during this run-in and he can have no complaints about today's backing from the fans. On the pitch meanwhile, the frustration continues. It's end-to-end stuff mind you..
3.47 - GOAL! Nightmare. Absolute nightmare. Scott Cuthbert is far too casual on the edge of the area and is robbed by Alex Nicholls. The ball is squared across to Steve Jones who strokes it past the helpless Lucas.
3.50 - The referee blows for half-time triggering mass head-shaking around the County Ground. Talk about sucker-punch goal but in truth the home side have been far too laid back. Danny Wilson's men have it all to do in the second half.
Half Time - Swindon Town 0-1 Walsall
4.06 - We're underway again at SN1. Massive, massive 45 minutes ahead for Danny Wilson's men.
4.14 - GOAL! Charlie, Charlie Austin! Where have you been! A corner is played over from the Town right. Everyone misses it and it drops to Scott Cuthbert who prods it goalwards where Austin is on hand to bundle it over the line. Game on!
4.17 - What a difference a goal makes! ANOTHER chance as a corner is cleared to the edge of the area and Danny Ward's piledriver spins just wide.
4.17 - Substitution - Simon Ferry makes way for Michael Timlin
4.22 - JP McGovern deserves a goal for his performance today and he almost gets it from a free-kick. 25 yards out, slightly left of centre, Town's number 7 curls his effort literally inches wide.
4.27 - Town have allowed the Saddlers to settle again and another nervous bit of defending from the Town almost produces another calamity at the back. Austin is VERY dubiously booked for going into a 50-50 challenge with Gilmartin.
4.30 - Substitution - Charlie Austin is replaced by Frank Nouble
4.34 - Just short of 20 minutes to go and Town are started to put a bit more pressure on. McGovern is denied by a superb save from Gilmartin
4.37 - Time starting to tick away now. More pressure from Town but the same outcome as before. Paynter puts a header over the bar.
4.40 - Should be 2-1 to the visitors. Gordon Greer suffers from a bout of the nervousness that seems to be plaguing this Town side and turns into trouble releasing a 3-on-2 break. Thankfully for the Town Nicholls puts the ball wastefully wide.
4.43 - Substitution - Danny Wilson has now played his hand, shown all his cards or any other card-playing analogy you care to mention. Vincent Pericard replaces Danny Ward.
4.54 - Mr Cook blows for full-time and the air of despondency around the County Ground is hugely in evidence. Very disappointing for the home supporters.
Full Time: Swindon Town 1-1 Walsall
