WYCOMBE WANDERERS 2 (Bloomfield '45+4, Revell '78)

SWINDON TOWN 2 (Paynter '47, Sheehan '83)

Subsitutes: Steve Arnold (GK), Luke Oliver, Dean Keates, Matt Harrold, Matt Phillips, Stuart Beavon, Kevin McLeod

Swindon Town: David Lucas; Stephen Darby (Amankwaah '78), Scott Cuthbert, Gordon Greer (Capt.), Alan Sheehan; J-P McGovern, Jonathan Douglas, Simon Ferry (Easton '62), Danny Ward (Marshall '36); Charlie Austin, Billy Paynter

Substitutes: Phil Smith (GK), Lecsinel Jean-Francois, Craig Easton, Michael Timlin, Frank Nouble, Kevin Amankwaah, Mark Marshall

Referee: S Attwell

Attendance: 7,459

2.20pm - The teams are in. Town are unchanged, with Mark Marshall replacing the injured Vincent Pericard on the bench. Former Town loanees Tom Heaton and Alex Revell both start for the home side.

2.40pm - A large proportion of Town's sizeable following begin to take their seats behind the goal, as the squad warm up ahead of what is a crucial match for both sides.

2.45pm - The sun douses Adams Park in watery light as the players return to the changing room. Peter Shirtliff trudges morosely after them as he and Danny Wilson prepare to deliver their latest crucial team talk. Not long until kick-off, and Town's travelling supporters are beginning to find their voices.

Simon Ferry

2.50pm - The pre-match preparation takes a bizarre twist as Wycombe showcase their credible 'Stop Smoking Campaign', via the curious medium of a bloke dressed as a huge cigarette walking around and shaking children by the hand.

3pm - The match kicks off, with Town in all white, shooting away from their travelling fans.

3.06pm - Town put together their first passing move of the game and go from one end of the field to the other. Unfortunately Billy Paynter can't quite cut the ball back for anyone in a white shirt.

3.13pm - Ten minutes gone at Adams Park and it's not a pretty one so far. The Swindon supporters are doing their best to keep themselves entertained. Some have even taken their shirts off a la Toon Army. Mind you that's probably because of the heat...

3.23pm - Wycombe are allowed the time and space to carve out another chance but their attacking play so far has only managed to produce two over-hit crosses. At the other end SImon Ferry brings the ball 60 yards before laying the ball off for Douglas to strike. From the corner ex-Town stopper Tom Heaton gathers well. Very cautious from both teams at the moment and, suffice to say, it doesn't make for very entertaining football.

Jonathan Douglas

3.32pm - Not long to go to half-time and there's a stoppage as Jonathan Douglas goes down clutching his face. The players take on water and advice, the latter coming from Peter Shirtliff. The water's a good idea too: a lot of red-faced players with puffed-out cheeks out there.

3.37pm - SUBSTITUTION - Danny Ward is replaced by Mark Marshall

3.41pm - Finally! A shot on target. It's at the wrong end as far as Swindon fans are concerned though as Lucas makes a routine save. It's a brutal contest so far: Dick Mackey has been on the field treating players a good number of times. Just got a close-up of JP McGovern as he made a clearance and you could see the desire etched on his face!

3.49pm - GOAL! Absolute disaster for the Town! A routine ball upfield allows Matt Bloomfield the freedom of Adams Park to run through an absent Town defence and slot home past Lucas

3.51pm - Well it's the worst possible end of the half for Danny Wilson's men. Need to pick things up in the second 45.

HALF TIME Wycombe Wanderers 1 Town 0

4.05pm - The second half kicks off with Town shooting towards the away contingent.

4.07pm - GOAL! The perfect start to the half for Danny Wilson's side, as J-P McGovern crosses brilliantly from the right, and Billy Paynter plants a header in to the bottom corner to send the away fans into delirium behind the goal.

4.11pm - Town are well on top, and create a decent opening for Mark Marshall, but the substitute fires over from just inside the box.

4.24pm - SUBSTITUTION: Craig Easton replaces Simon Ferry for the visitors, as Wilson attempts to freshen things up.

4.26pm - A great chance for Austin to put Town in front, as Paynter does well on the left and whips in a dangerous cross, which the youngster can only head narrowly over the bar.

4.27pm - Ainsworth squanders a golden opportunity for the hosts at the other end, as he races clean through on goal, but fires straight at David Lucas, and Scott Cuthbert is on hand to clear the danger.

4.28pm - A high, looping cross from Sheehan on the left is met powerfully by Easton, but the midfielder's header drifts just over the bar.

4.29pm  - Austin thinks he's put Town in front as he rounds the 'keeper and slots home, but his enthusiastic celebrations are muted by the sight of the linesman's flag aloft.

4.34pm - Town are well on top, but Ainsworth breaks free on the left and unleashes a rasping shot which Lucas does well to palm over the bar.

4.35pm - PENALTY! J-P McGovern brings down Betsy just inside the box and Stuart Attwell points to the spot.

4.35pm - GOAL! An unbelievable series of events, as former Town loanee Alex Revell sees his spot-kick brilliantly saved by Lucas, but Woodman chips in the loose ball and Revell is on hand to nod it goalwards. Despite Cuthbert's goal line clearance, the linesman raises his flag to signal the ball had crossed the line.

4.35pm - SUBSTITUTION: Kevin Amankwaah replaces Stephen Darby.

4.41pm - GOAL! Town back on level terms through Alan Sheehan. Great work by Cuthbert and Paynter set the Irishman away and he finished wonderfully from 8 yards out to give Town a deserved equaliser.

4.47pm - Jonathan Douglas puts in a stunning last ditch tackle on Alex Revell to keep the scores level, as the former Town striker was clean through on goal.
