Billy Paynter checked into The County Ground for the final time on Friday lunchtime.

The striker put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Championship newcomers Leeds United earlier this week and will link up with Simon Grayson's side for pre-season at the start of July.

Before heading off on a family holiday, Paynter called into SN1 to say a few farewells.

He also gave his last interview to STFC Player, the club's official online TV service, outlining his reasons for the move and thanking the Swindon fans for their support during his three-year County Ground stay.

"I really enjoyed my time at Swindon," he said. "I wish the club and the fans every success in the future because they were great throughout my time here.

"The fans were superb not only with me, but to the whole squad. They turned out in numbers at Wembley and there was a tremendous atmosphere there.

"The Leeds move is a big opportunity for me and it's a great chance for my family to be closer to home and for me to play championship football."
