Charlie Austin bagged a brace on his return to Poole Town as Town claimed a comfortable 4-2 win over the Dolphins on Tuesday evening.
Austin, on his long awaited homecoming, broke the deadlock on 8 minutes after pouncing on a mistake in the home defence and driving a classy finish into the far corner from the edge of the box.
And it was 2-0 15 minutes later when Alan O'Brien received the ball on the left and drove into the box past two defenders before drilling a shot into the roof of the net to double the visitors lead.
The home side then rallied, but more good work from O'Brien left Austin with an open goal from a yard out, and he poked home his second of the evening.
Poole finished the half strongly, but there was still time for Billy Bodin to make it four with a neat finish on the stroke of the whistle, leaving the Dolphins with mountain to climb ahead of the second period.
The half began at a pedestrian pace, with both sides accepting of the result and looking unlikely to add to the score.
However it was the hosts who struck just after the hour mark as, following the withdrawal of Charlie Austin, Max Cream broke well on the left and squared the ball into the path of Carl Preston who couldn't miss from a yard out.
The hosts then proceeded to enjoy the better of the game as Town began to play within themselves, and the Dolphins could have pulled another goal back through Preston, but the striker's cross-cum-shot flew narrowly over the bar.
And they capped a much improved second half showing with another goal late in the piece, when Micky Hubbard crossed well for substitute Chris Smith to slot home from inside the box.
That was to prove the last goalmouth action of a match from which Danny Wilson will be pleased to have sustained no serious injuries, and which Charlie Austin will remember fondly.
