Town's reserves strolled to a 4-0 over fellow League 1 side Plymouth Argyle at The County Ground on Tuesday afternoon, thanks to goals from David Ball, Sean Morrison, Thomas Dossevi and Josh Parsons.

The hosts made a bright start to the game, and though it took them a while to create any clear cut chances, it was no surprise when they took the lead through David Ball after 36 minutes.

The Manchester City loanee picked up the ball on the right, cut inside the box and beat two challenges box before rolling the ball into the far corner via the upright.

The Pilgrims could have equalised seconds after the re-start however, when Craig Noone found himself one-on-one with Jakub Jesionkowski on the edge of the area, but he squandered his side's only chance of the half by side footing wide.

This only served to increase Town's dominance in the final 15 minutes of a half in which they had looked comfortable in front of a sparse audience at The County Ground, and they went into the break well in top.

The hosts started the second period in much the same vein, and were three goals to the good within the hour through Sean Morrison and Thomas Dossevi.

Former Argyle trainee Morrison stooped well to bullet a Michael Timlin header into the top corner to make it two after 54 minutes, before Dossevi nodded another Timlin cross home from close range four minutes later to effectively wrap up the game.

Town continued to look confident in possession throughout the rest of the period, but with the result all but settled, the pace of the game dropped considerably with fitness seemingly the main concern of both sides.

However, there was still time for the hosts to notch a fourth, with the impressive Callum Kennedy picking out substitute Josh Parsons at the back post, who poked the ball home from close range in the 80th minute.

Overall it was an impressive performance by the hosts in a match in which both sides had fielded strong line ups, and the watching Peter Shirtliff will have been encouraged by the way his side claimed victory at a canter at The County Ground.
