Pardew sacked by Southampton

League 1 rivals Southampton have sacked manager Alan Pardew.

Pardew, along with first team coach Wally Downes and goalkeeping coach Stuart Murdoch, have left St. Mary's just days after the 4-0 win over Bristol Rovers.

Dean Wilkins has been named caretaker manager and he will be assisted by under-21 coach Martin Hunter.

Swindon Town make the trip to Southampton on Tuesday evening in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round.

Southampton visit The County Ground in League 1 on Saturday 11th September.
