| Name: | Charlie Austin |
Swindon Town FC completed the signing of Poole Town striker Charlie Austin for an undisclosed fee in October 2009.
The 20-year old arrived at The County Ground with an impressive scoring record and hit 46 goals in 46 games for Poole Town last term. Austin has also made a fine start to the 2009/10 season and has 18 goals to his name already in 11 appearances for The Dolphins this term.
Austin, a former Reading trainee, has signed a deal until the end of the season and had been training with The Robins for several weeks prior to sealing a permanent move. He scored for Swindon's reserves against Swansea City in a recent reserve fixture.
Town Chairman Andrew Fitton offered his views following the completion of the transfer.
"Charlie is a classic example of a player who 'slipped through the net' and has had to make it back the hard way. Whatever level of football he has played he has always been a goalscorer and we believe that he has the potential to score goals for Swindon Town.
"We're delighted to welcome him to The County Ground for what we hope will be a long and successful period in his career."
He added: "I'd also like to thank Poole Town for letting him come to us - it's difficult to lose such a prolific scorer but at the same time they wanted Charlie to have the chance to play professional football."
