STURROCK'S UPDATE
Good afternoon
This weekend sees the excitement of a local derby come to The County Ground. There should be a big crowd inside the stadium for the game and hopefully our players can respond to that.
It's a difficult test for us and it will be important that we roll our sleeves up and get back on the rails as quickly as we can. It is eleven against eleven this weekend and hopefully the derby atmosphere will lift our players and we can win the game.
We have a few players who could face late fitness tests so hopefully some of the lame and lousy can come to the fore in time for Saturday. We are still searching for a settled side because our strongest team has been taken away from us. There could be changes to the side at the weekend and we may have to switch the defence around one again due to injuries. Jamie Vincent will miss Saturday's game although we are hopeful he could be back in time for the long trip to Carlisle. Barry Corr, Hasney Aljofree and Jerel Ifil have not trained yet this week so we will await news of their fitness. Ady is now waiting for a reserve game to come around because he is itching to get back out onto the field.
Ben Tozer is an option we have at the back for Saturday's game. He is a young player and the only way he will benefit is by getting another taste of first team action. He was outstanding in midweek for the youth team at Brentford and he has real potential.
Speaking of the youth team, I went to see the game at Brentford in midweek and it was a solid first half performance. Having gone two goals up they let their foot off the gas after the break and it was a nervous last few minutes, but thankfully they made it through and now have a home tie with Barnsley at home.
Every team has injuries and suspensions so there is no point bleating on about it. I am very hopeful that those players who do go out there on Saturday, representing Swindon Town, go out there and grab their opportunity with both hands.
It should be a good one.
See you there?
