David 'Budgie' Byrne has been a member of the backroom team since November 2006.

Byrne joined the ranks at Swindon Town in November 2006, leaving his post at Plymouth College to take charge of the Youth Team at The County Ground. His first season saw the Town Under 18's march to the Quarter-Finals of the FA Youth Cup with the high-profile visit of Newcastle United to SN1 in front of over 2,500, running the Magpies close with a last-minute extra-time winner denying Swindon a Semi-Final date with Liverpool at Anfield..

He later played for Bristol Rovers, Watford, Reading and Fulham before joining Scottish side Partick Thistle.

He joined Walsall on loan in February 1994 and after leaving Partick played for St Mirren, Ayr United and Albion Rovers where he was player-coach in 1996. He later coached the Plymouth Argyle youth team and was appointed as Director of Football at Plymouth College prior to his move to Wiltshire.
