Cheque Presentation
On Saturday 25th April Swindon Town Football Club raised £6,500 for the charity Help for Heroes. Events at the match included a bucket collection by soldiers from 10 Signal Regiment in Corsham, a guard of honour for the players by soldiers from 21 Signal Regiment Colerne, and music from the Central Band of the Royal Air Force.
The three games planned for the 2009/10 season aim to build on the success of last season's event, whilst also continuing to encourage forces families to be a part of the Swindon Town Football Club. Again soldiers from 10 Signal Regiment will be supporting the fundraising efforts.
About Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry after a profoundly moving visit to Selly Oak Hospital in the summer of 2007. Bryn and Emma met some extraordinarily brave young men who had been badly wounded and they just wanted to do something to help. The charity was launched in October 2007 and, with the backing and support of Celebrities, including Jeremy and Francie Clarkson, The Royal Family, The Media and countless ordinary decent people, it has raised over £1m a month since then.
