SWINDON'S second round Capital One Cup tie against Stoke City will be played on Tuesday, 28th August 2012 at 7.45pm. Ticket details are yet to be confirmed.


The game will be the first meeting between the two sides since 2002. On that particular trip to the north-west, Stoke ran out 2-0 winners. Town also had the honour of being the Potters’ opponents in the first league game played at the Britannia Stadium. Goals from Wayne Allison and Chris Hay spoiling the home supporters’ party as the Town won 2-1. The tie will be the first League Cup meeting between the two sides since 1979: goals from Alan Mayes and Ray McHale gave the Town the win in the 3rd round replay at The County Ground. Town's current kit manager Roger Jones played in goal for the Potters on that day. 


A number of players have represented both clubs with Peter Thorne, Vincent Pericard, Tommy Mooney and Steve Foley just a few examples of players who have donned both teams' colours.


Ticket details will be announced on the official STFC site as well as the official STFC Facebook and Twitter accounts as soon as ticket prices have been agreed.


The fixture comes after Arsenal visit the Britannia on Sunday 26th August while for the Town, the trip to the Potteries is sandwiched between a home game with  MK Dons and a return trip to the north-west the following Sunday when they go to Preston North End.
