The 33-year old is expected to be available for the Town’s clash at Preston North End on Sunday afternoon in League One.
Ward arrives at The County Ground with a solid Football League career on his CV. He started his career as a youngster at Watford making 67 appearances, including a number of Premiership games before then Lions boss Mark McGhee brought him to The Den in a £500,000 deal in 2001.
During his four years at the club, The Lions reached the FA Cup Final in 2004 and then had a taste of UEFA Cup action the following season against Hungarian giants Ferencvaros.
The centre-half moved to Crystal Palace in a £1.1m deal in the summer of 2005 where he racked up 69 appearances for The Eagles in two years at Selhurst Park before switching to Wolves.
STFC Player subscribers will be able to watch an exclusive, extended interview with Ward later this evening.
