DEFENDER Jay McEveley is set to be sidelined for up to two months following knee surgery, according to Town boss Paolo Di Canio.
Speaking to the media on Thursday afternoon, the Italian admitted that the defender has been a key player for the Robins this term and will be missed.
“It looks like we could be without Jay for up to two months," he said. "We could have sent him for a clean-up operation but he wasn't able to train properly so we had to be fair to him and make sure we chose the right option.
"The operation he had will benefit him in the long term. We are now left without one of our most consistent players and we have been working to overcome that.
"Jay has led his teammates very well and he's been a real asset this season."
