PDC - No Final Action

8 December 2012

MANAGER Paolo Di Canio spoke to the media after his side's 1-1 draw with Doncaster at The County Ground.

On the result…
It is a little disappointing but I can’t push the ball in the goal. It is the one game in the last year and a half that we have been in the box; we were in the box for 70 minutes. The system is there, the physical conditioning is there but the final action to score wasn’t.

On chances created…
We spent so much time in their box but we didn’t look dangerous at times. Iain Hume went out at the end of the first half but he fought so hard in the second half. The positive for us is that the job of our technical staff is there. This is the pillars of what we do – we give our players all the details they need. Nobody put their head right in and the body language was not good. Gary Roberts disappointed me today and we should have had more fire. We lost a good chance in the second half today.

On Andy Williams…
The injury he had has probably put him back a little bit, but I could not question his commitment today. We work every day of the week and the players have been practicing hard. There is a limit to improve some of the individuals – not specifically Andy Williams – but some.

On season aims…
We need to finish the season well. We have closed the gap a little bit but we have to keep going and be professional. We have to get 45 or 50 points as soon as we can and see what happens. We dominated the game today and have come out 1-1 and not 2-0 winners.
