PDC - They Will Be Physical

14 December 2012

PAOLO Di Canio is expecting his side to face a tough test against an in-form Oldham Athletic side this weekend.

The Robins are back on the road at Boundary Park in League One and the manager has offered his views ahead of the trip to face the Latics.

“Oldham is not an easy place to go and play, but there are no easy destinations in League One,” he said.

“Paul Dickov is a good manager and they have good organization. They are a typical side and they have some heavyweights in their team.

“They have quality in there with Baxter and Derbyshire who we know all about and quality across the midfield too. Montano we know about too and they also have Croft with good experience.

“We have to be careful because Oldham will go into the game on the back of a positive moment with a win over Colchester last weekend.”

Despite his warning, Di Canio is looking for a maximum points return from his side this weekend before Town return to The County Ground for the visit of League One leaders Tranmere Rovers the following Friday evening.

“There is a moment in the season when it is more important to get points rather than performance and we need a win this weekend.

“If you put a contract in front of me to guarantee a victory this weekend but with a bad performance, then I would take that just for one game this weekend.

“I would prefer to play well of course. We have many players to choose from and I am happy with that. I would prefer to have selection problems in terms of decisions rather than an easy life.”
