Preview - Doncaster Rovers

7 December 2012

AFTER a two-week break from on-field duties, Paolo Di Canio’s side welcome second-placed Doncaster Rovers to SN1 on Saturday afternoon.

THE VIEW

Speaking ahead of the match, manager Paolo Di Canio believes that Doncaster’s position in the League One table will provide enough motivation for his side to put in a performance on Saturday afternoon.

“Playing a side second in the league should provide my team with extra motivation,” he said. “In the last two games we have lost six points so we have to show we should be close to Doncaster. We have to take our chances and move forward.

“A win would keep us close to the top places and in this moment the results are important. We have key games until we play Carlisle in early January and we need to make good performances and make sure we get results.”

THE STORY SO FAR

Donny have crept up the League One table somewhat unnoticed and currently sit in second place. Cup matches aside, Dean Saunders’ men have not lost since a 2-1 reverse at Yeovil Town at the start of September and have won their last four games.

LAST TIME OUT

Swindon’s record against Doncaster at SN1 makes for pretty grim reading: Just two wins from a total of eight home league meetings. On their last visit in November 2007, the Yorkshire side took all three points. Town last registered a victory over Doncaster in February 2006 when the unlikely duo of Ricky Shakes and Charlie Comyn-Platt secured a 2-1 win.
