Quality pleases Di Canio

25 July 2012

SWINDON Town manager Paolo Di Canio is pleased with the progress being made by his side, while he bides his time in adding more talent to his squad.

Di Canio saw his side run out 4-0 winners at Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night thanks to goals from Troy Archibald-Henville, Paul Caddis, Gary Roberts and Simon Ferry. Despite a plethora of changes to the team in the second half, the manager was delighted with his side’s continued progress ahead of the new season.

He said: “The improvement that I have seen in the last two or three friendly games is amazing. In some way I couldn’t have expected such progress but we have brought in good experience and talented players. They already have good knowledge.

“I am happy because the new players have not only shown me the quality that they have, but they have also been fantastic professionals to work with and I hope that continues. In the way they have played and trained, they are players that any manager would like to have.”

The Italian has not ruled out adding to his squad ahead of the new campaign but admits he is prepared to wait for the right moves.

“There is no update really at the moment on transfers. I want to wait a bit more and make sure we bring the right players in. I want to be sure of where I want to strengthen and not make any mistakes.”
