Collins - We Didn't Get Started

21 November 2012

JAMES Collins could not hide his disappointment at Town’s performance in Tuesday’s 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Brentford.

Speaking exclusively to the official website after the game, the frontman felt that the team had failed to hit the levels they achieved in Saturday’s win over Yeovil.

“It was obviously a bad loss considering we were coming off the back of a good result on Saturday,” he said. “We were hoping to kick on today and hopefully push on and get the three points to keep us up there. It wasn’t to be tonight and it's always disappointing.

“First of all we didn’t get started. I personally didn’t have the best of games and one or two of the lads felt off the pace. Unfortunately they managed to get one chance and they’ve put it away that was the main difference tonight.

“Notts County at the weekend is a massive game. Obviously they are up there with us and if we can go there and get a win then it will be a massive recovery from tonight.”

In the absence of Andy Williams, the former Shrewsbury striker has found himself partnered by new loan signing Chris Martin, a pairing that Collins hopes will bear fruit sooner rather than later.

“Chris is a good player,” he said. “He is an experienced player who has played at the top level and I think if we manage to get a few more games together we should be half decent together.”
