Devera - Home Win Overdue

19 November 2012

JOE Devera says that Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Yeovil had been long overdue.

Speaking to the official website in the wake of Town’s win, the former Barnet defender was pleased with his contribution that saw him awarded Man of the Match.

“We were definitely due a win like that,” he said. “I wouldn’t say it was a comfortable win but we got two goals which is a big positive for us. We’ve been struggling with home form as of late. It was a tough game for us and we got the result.

“I just got the ball, put my head down, saw that the cross was on and crossed it for James Collins (to score Swindon’s second). It was my first Man of the Match for a long time so I was surprised.”

Looking at the bigger picture, Devera declared that Tuesday’s fixture with Brentford is at the forefront of the team’s thinking and praised the influence of his most recent central defensive partner.

“I’m just happy I’m playing at the moment,” he said. “The team’s looking a bit more solid. It feels a bit more solid for me as well and I think we just need to keep working. There is a partnership forming hopefully (with Darren Ward) and his experience is very helpful.

“The main thing for us now is Brentford on Tuesday - work towards that then go game-by-game.”
