Hollands: Here To Play

15 November 2012

DANNY Hollands says he jumped at the chance to sign on loan for Swindon Town.

The midfielder put pen to paper on a loan deal from Charlton Athletic on Wednesday evening and afterwards, he spoke exclusively to STFC Player.

“Like any footballer you want to play football,” he said. “I wasn’t playing as much as I would have liked the last few weeks and I was told that Swindon would like to take me on loan so I jumped at the chance. Obviously it’s a big club, good manager, good fanbase so it’s everything you look for. Hopefully I can get in the team and help them do well.

“They got a great squad already with some great players so it’s going to be tough getting into the starting 11 but I’ve come here to play football. Obviously the first thing I’ve got to do is try and get in the team and if I can get in the team I’ll help the team get some results and start climbing the table because they’ve been doing really well as it is.”

Hollands went on to reveal what he hopes to bring to Paolo Di Canio’s playing squad.

I’m going to try and be a box to box midfielder,” he explained. “Last year I got 8 goals so hopefully if I do manage to play I hope I can get a goal or two but my main concern is getting in the team and getting points on the board. That’s the concern for any club sitting 6th in the league is getting as many points as you can and hopefully I can help by putting more points on the board.”
