Speaking at Monday’s pre-match press conference, manager Paolo Di Canio confirmed he will be without his captain once again this evening.
“Sheffield United will come too soon for Alan,” said the boss. “There are a few others who picked up injuries against Macclesfield and we may be without a couple.
“Hopefully a few of those will be back over the next few weeks but we will have to make the most of what we have.”
The manager plans to put the squad through a mini pre-season next week, with no midweek game scheduled for the Robins between the League One game at Walsall this weekend and the home game against Yeovil Town on Saturday 17th November.
“The fixture schedule in England is heavy and we have had a lot of games, but we have a free week next week.
“We will then have a mini pre-season which can help us going into the Christmas period because we want to be strong and fresh when we get through to January.”
