PDC - I am Disappointed

24 November 2012

PAOLO Di Canio spoke to the media after his side's 1-0 defeat at Notts County

On the defeat...
I am disappointed. We dominated most of the game but once again we go out with nothing. We made plenty of chances but I am top manager and I tell everybody that we are a middle team. The system brought my players close there. During the week I told everyone that I know my players and we can see that we can have a comfortable season. I am a bit sad. We dominated and had clear chances but they won with that one goal. Physically we were on top, but one mistake cost us. Notts County had pedigree and quality.

On Bartosz Bialkowski’s performance...
He made one save with his instincts and threw his arms up for the one at the end. He made a good save from Ritchie and he was crucial for them. He was probably the best player on the field.

On Hollands and Martin...
I was unhappy with the way they affected the game today and they have to show different body language, but we have two weeks to work with them now. In the week I was clear with what I said about the squad. It is important that we don’t lose confidence. It will help me work with the Martin and Hollands so we can give them a better fitness level.

On moving forward...
We made a better performance than Brentford and we should have come out with a draw from both games at the minimum. One day we will improve out finishing in front of goal and the decisions we make on the field. When we have to make the right decisions, we are weak. If we can keep in the middle until after Christmas and then we can bring some players back – like Miller and Navarro. Even when Miller comes back he will need games to get match fit.

On a two-week break...
Two defeats in a row, if I know my players, then they are very down. I don’t think they would be ready for a game in another three days time. The players have their own mentality and I can’t change that. Two weeks will help me but it doesn’t mean we will win easy against Doncaster. The fans have to stay relaxed with Paolo Di Canio. We will work for Swindon and make decisions so we can make good performances and reach a good level.
