Ward - Beware of the Backlash

9 November 2012

DARREN Ward believes Town will have to be wary of a Walsall backlash as the Robins head to The Banks’s Stadium looking to build on Tuesday’s result against Sheffield United.

Ward made his 13th appearance of the campaign in midweek and helped Paolo Di Canio’s men keep a clean sheet against one of the division’s frontrunners at The County Ground. Meanwhile, the Saddlers were beaten 4-1 by Scunthorpe United and Ward is wise to the potential Walsall threat this weekend.

He said: “Walsall had a bad result in midweek but we know it’s going to be tough. When a team loses like that the manager will be looking for a response.

“Our attitude has to be both positive and professional and we will go there looking to get the result.

“Tuesday was a tough one for us but we came through the game and created a lot of chances. I was disappointed we didn’t win the game but we kept a clean sheet and we have to take the positives from that into this Saturday.”
