Di Canio - Macclesfield No Easy Game

23 October 2012

After being drawn against non-league Macclesfield Town in the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, Paolo Di Canio has warned that the Silkmen will provide his side with a stern test.

Having met in the league last season, both sides exited League Two from either end and the manager says that he will have a selection headache ahead of the fixture.

“In some way you have everything to lose because we arrive at this game after Aston Villa,” he said. “Against Aston Villa you will spend incredible energy mentally and physically. After Aston Villa you have not a big name, with all respect to Macclesfield, but a non-league team so I have to be careful which players to choose.

"Not because of rotation but because I prefer to play young players with 100% commitment and enthusiasm that my players, even if they are good professionals, are going to underestimate. Not the whole eleven or sixteen but four or five.

"It’s difficult because for them it’s the game of their life – the FA Cup, Swindon, League One - for us it should be the same but it’s not easy for us. Don’t think I’m thinking about Macclesfield now but already when I heard the news I thought this could not be a balanced game but big trouble for us”
