PDC - Happy With The Points

27 October 2012

TOWN boss Paolo Di Canio spoke to the assembled media after Swindon's 4-0 win at Stevenage

On the win...

We have had injuries and we had to make changes, but in general the performance was good. I am happy with the points but we can improve of course. The result was no accident, we are better. The players were professional and did their jobs well.

On team changes...

We have been working hard in training and trying different things. I wanted to handle the situation and I was sure Paul Benson would help us keep balls up top and we had support up front. I did save some of the main players for Tuesday night and we moved things around. I tried to handle the situation and go out in the second half to win the game, with one eye on Aston Villa.

On Miles Storey...

Now is a very delicate moment for him. He has to keep going and keep improving. He is not completely ready yet and I am sure he will receive 200 text messages tonight. He has improved a lot and he has got his focus. He scored a good goal and worked hard today. I am very happy for him.

On team performance...

The players did an amazing job today. We started the game well and did a good job against a team high up in the league. It happened against MK Dons, Stoke City and Brighton. With Scunthorpe and Leyton Orient we didn’t have the same determination. Even the small details can make the difference and today we didn’t give them an opportunity to go through and score. The fact that we played well means that in a delicate moment, the players came out with energy and desire. Sometimes you have to kick their bottom but we know they can do this every week. Our fitness is very good and the quality should come out.

On injuries...

Troy (Archibald-Henville) went to warm up and then he felt sick so he couldn’t start the game. John (Bostock) will miss a few weeks because he opened up his hip a little and he has some damage in the area. This is the moment we have to handle but it looks like he will be out for a little while.

On Aston Villa...

All the attention must now go to Tuesday night and Aston Villa. We have won two games against Premier League teams and now we have a chance to take on another side. We must stop thinking about the league now and take an extra lift to try and make something special on Tuesday night. The game on Tuesday is now the main event for us. I will watch the Aston Villa game against Norwich game tonight and we will now focus on that game.
